Meet Samekelisiwe Mngoma

Samekelisiwe Mngoma, fondly known as SM, is a talented spinner at Living Well Interiors. At 40, she brings dedication and passion to her craft. Raised in Ntuzuma, KZN, SM completed Grade 11 and pursued various skills-based courses including motor mechanics and sewing despite facing financial challenges.She found her calling in textiles through a basic sewing course at Grace Church, which led her to join Living Well Interiors for embroidery training.Impressed by her commitment, Director Hillary Rooney Fernandes invited her to join the sewing team eventually leading her to specialize in spinning. SM finds joy in creating the yarn that begins each rug, proud to be part of a team effort that transforms raw material into beautiful, finished pieces. She says, “I love what I do because it’s a skill I’ve learned and working while doing what I love is a bonus. ”At home, SM lives with her loving parents, three children, and one grandchild. As the eldest of three siblings, she takes pride in caring for herfamily and supporting those around her.
