Meet Thobile

Thobile Mjaja is a dedicated and hardworking 29-year-old weaver at LivingWell Interiors, known for her artistic spirit. Born in Harding, she now lives in Bester with her father and is one of seven siblings. She is also a proud mother to her 8-year-old daughter, who inspires her every day. Thobile initially pursued a Bachelor of Education but had to leave her studies due to personal circumstances. Not one to give up, she completed a learnership in agriculture and continued exploring new skills and eventually found her passion in weaving. She describes her journey into weaving as transformative. “At first, I was clueless, and I used to look at the rugs and think, ‘No, I can’t do it.’ Finally, when I learned and I started making it and looked at my work, I fell in love with what I do. Making designs that no one else does is exciting. I wake up happy every day to complete my rugs, especially if it’s new designs.” Thobile also enjoys reading and singing, hobbies that keep her inspired.
